How to Become a Pharmacy Technician in Alabama

What Alabama law requires
You cannot work in an Alabama prescription department unless you are registered with the Alabama Board of Pharmacy and you work under direct pharmacist supervision. That is Alabama Board of Pharmacy Rule 680-X-2-.14.
If your initial registration is dated on or after January 1, 2020, you must complete a Board-approved training program within the first six months after you obtain that registration. The clock starts at registration, not hire. Submit proof within 30 days of completion.
You must be at least 17. Official Board fees listed on albop.com/technician are $60 for the application and $40 for the background check ($100 total).
The Board course is $199. Course access is 90 days from enrollment. Most students finish in two to four weeks on a phone. This course is ALBOP training, not PTCB exam prep. If you want national exam prep later, that next step is Allied Health Academy.
